Before & After Neck Lift Procedures

As people age, the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their neck area. The jawline grows slack and jowly; folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A necklift can help stop this aging process.

Dr. Lacerna’s office in Sarasota & Bradenton can help set back the clock, improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of your face and neck. A necklift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

The Best Candidates for a Neck Lift

A neck lift is often performed for men or women in middle age or older, or for men or women of any age who have lost weight or who are genetically inclined to have an overly plump neck. It is best to have realistic goals for what you may look like after a neck lift procedure and for how it may effect your self-confidence.

Dr. Lacerna may choose one or more procedures to achieve the desired results of your neck lift. Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin. Platysmaplasty removes or alters neck muscles. Liposuction might also be used, to remove excess fat. Dr. Lacerna may also combine a neck lift with a face lift.

Planning Your Neck Lift

During your consultation, Dr. Lacerna will discuss your goals for the surgery and ask you about certain medical conditions that could cause problems during or after the procedure, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, blood-clotting problems, or the tendency to develop large scars. Be sure to tell Dr. Lacerna if you have had previous facial surgery, if you smoke, or if you take any drugs or medications – including aspirin or other drugs that affect clotting.

If you decide to proceed with a neck lift, Dr. Lacerna will explain the surgical technique, the recommended type of anesthesia, the type of facility where the surgery will be performed, the risks and the costs involved. Don’t hesitate to ask Dr. Lacerna any questions you may have, especially those regarding your expectations and concerns about the results of surgery.
