Our center in Bradenton offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for patients seeking support for healing, recovery, and overall wellness. During treatment, you relax in our hard-shell hyperbaric chamber, pressurized to 2.0 ATM, while breathing oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure. This increases the amount of oxygen available to tissues and may support the body’s natural repair and recovery processes.
For plastic surgery patients, hyperbaric therapy may be incorporated into a treatment plan before or after cosmetic or reconstructive surgery.
Wellness sessions are also available for individuals interested in exercise recovery, vitality, relaxation, mental clarity, skin rejuvenation, and general recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Increased oxygen availability may support:
HBOT is used as a complementary therapy when clinically appropriate. It does not replace surgery, postoperative care, or other medical treatment prescribed by your healthcare provider.
LA Plastic Surgery also offers Wellness Hyperbaric Sessions for people seeking general recovery and wellness support. These sessions are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
Please follow these preparation guidelines:
Wear the clinic-approved garments supplied by our team.
Do not apply lotions, perfumes, or hair products on the day of treatment.
Remove jewelry, metal, and other prohibited items as directed by our staff.
Tell your provider about any recent surgery or upcoming surgery.
Inform our team if you have a fever, respiratory illness, congestion, or ear or sinus symptoms.
Discuss any lung disease, pregnancy, or significant medical condition before treatment.
Tell your provider if you have an upcoming flight within 24 hours of your session.
During your session, you relax comfortably inside the hyperbaric chamber while oxygen levels and chamber pressure are carefully monitored by trained staff.
As the chamber pressurizes, you may notice a sensation of fullness or pressure in your ears, similar to the sensation experienced during air travel. Staff will show you techniques to help equalize the pressure.
Once treatment begins, you can generally relax, read, or rest. Your appointment is scheduled for approximately 90 minutes total. This includes time with your physician for consultation and evaluation, followed by 70 minutes inside the hard-shell chamber at 2.0 ATM.
Most patients find the treatment relaxing and painless.
For plastic surgery patients, HBOT may be recommended before surgery to support tissue oxygenation and preparation for recovery. After surgery, it may be used as a complementary component of care to support normal wound healing, postoperative recovery, tissue viability, and management of swelling.
The timing and number of sessions depend on your procedure, health history, and provider recommendations.

One of the advantages of hyperbaric therapy is that there is generally no surgical-style downtime afterward.
Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately following treatment. Hydration is encouraged after your session.
You may experience temporary effects, such as:
Mild fatigue
Ear pressure or discomfort
Sinus pressure or congestion
Temporary vision changes, particularly with repeated treatments
If you are recovering from surgery, HBOT does not replace your surgeon’s postoperative instructions. Continue following all recommendations regarding wound care, medications, activity, garments, and follow-up appointments.
Patients should also report any unusual or persistent symptoms after treatment to the team.

Hyperbaric therapy may be appropriate for adults who are preparing for or recovering from surgery, recovering from an injury, or seeking a wellness-focused recovery program.
Plastic surgery patients may discuss HBOT with their provider when they are considering procedures such as:
Cheek lift
Signature facelift (PlasmaLyft)
Breast reconstruction
Arm lift
Liposuction or fat transfer
Other cosmetic or reconstructive procedures
Hyperbaric therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Tell your provider if you have:
Lung disease
An untreated or recent pneumothorax
Recent thoracic surgery
Recent ear, eye, or sinus surgery
Fever or respiratory illness
Pregnancy
Another significant medical condition requiring evaluation
A flight planned within 24 hours of treatment
Your health history and current circumstances will be reviewed before treatment.
